In the UK after World War 2 there was little demand for lightweight mobile access towers but, as skilled labour became in short supply and more expensive, large building contractors such as William Moss started importing UpRight aluminium towers directly from the US for use on particularly high or awkward jobs. Imports of these products increased during the 1950’s and eventually European distributors were set up. John Rusling was one of the people who became involved with this business and imported the UpRight product directly from the US into the UK. This proved a success and Wally Johnson in his book stated how pleased he was that his product sold as well in Europe as it did in the US.
