06/04/2023 - Need a little boost to reach that top shelf, change a lightbulb or hang those decorations? You're working at height, even if you're less than 2.5 metres off the ground, and it’s important to choose the right low level access equipment to complete these everyday tasks safely.
PASMA popped along to the IOSH South Wales Branch meeting on 30 March to talk to their members about podiums, pulpits, room scaffolds and other low level work platforms.
Working safely at low level heights
We were represented at the event by Francis Camilleri and Mat Gray from PASMA hirer/dealer and training member
TB Davies. Their presentation included:
> Case studies of accidents involving low level work platforms
> How to choose good quality equipment
> The features that keep you safe
> The training needed to work competently at low levels
> Top tips for working safely
> A Q&A session
Mat explains what the law and PASMA guidance says about inspecting low level access equipment
They also introduced
TowerSure, a clever new bit of technology from PASMA that is helping organisations manage pre-use inspections of access towers and low level work platforms in a smarter way.
Thanks for having us!
Thank you to Andy Hawkins, Keith Morey and Dylan Thompson from IOSH South Wales for inviting us along to the Waterton Technology Centre for their first face-to-face branch meeting since the pandemic began.
And thanks also to their members for being such a great audience, asking interesting questions and really engaging with the topic of low level height safety. The event was over-subscribed and it was a pleasure to be involved with what by all accounts was a great afternoon.
"Francis and Mat were great, the presentation struck the right balance of technical content and the case studies and explanations enabled attendees to relate the information and various scenarios discussed to their respective places of work. [We] thanked Francis and Mat for a great event that was enjoyed and provided a number of learning opportunities to all those who attended." – Andy Hawkins
Organising an event?
PASMA has a network of staff and members happy to talk at safety group meetings, present webinars, participate in panel sessions or assist with articles about the safe use of mobile access towers, tower scaffolds and low level work platforms, or even about working at height in general. Get in touch if you think we can help!
