First Qatar Symposium a great success
PASMA's first Qatar Symposium, held recently at the Radisson Blu Doha, welcomed over 50 delegates for what was a hugely successful event.
Supported by Ashgal, Qatar's Public Works Authority, the fully-booked event provided the opportunity for delegates to hear from several knowledgeable and expert speakers on safety when working at height.
Eng Ehab from Ashghal shared a very welcomed and informative presentation on the updates to Qatar Construction Specification 2018, covering the changes to Section 11 on health and safety in detail and raising positive audience interaction during the panel session.
Saji Nair talked about the role and responsibilities of the Project Management Company in meeting the legal requirements of work at height. Santosh Kumar Pillar, on behalf of IIRSM, talked about the selection of safe equipment and recognised training when managing the risks associated with work at height.
Our member presentation was delivered by Lineesh Nadukkudi who shared his own story on behavioural change when working at height and the importance of appropriate training and mentoring.
The Question and Answer Session, featuring all the speakers, answered questions from the audience; there were several questions asked on the changes to Section 11 and how Project Management Companies should incorporate Work at Height requirements.
The event concluded with an opportunity for delegates to network with fellow industry professionals while enjoying a light lunch.
