Welcome to PASMA’s archive wiki where you can browse through a series of documents and images showing the history of PASMA through the decades.

This is a new feature, we hope you like it!

A founding member of the Access Industry Forum (AIF), PASMA is the world’s not-for-profit authority for the mobile access tower industry. Representing the interests of manufacturers, suppliers, specifiers and users, it delivers and oversees the industry standard training scheme and is a major publisher of safety related knowledge, information and guidance. Liaising closely with all the key regulatory and standards-setting bodies in the work at height sector, it is the voice of the industry and, as such, plays a leading role in promoting safety and best practice.

In the role of industry leader PASMA is often approached for information regarding the origins, evolution and likely future development of mobile access towers and, with this in mind, the archive has been produced. It is work in progress, it makes no claim to be definitive and any errors are down to the memory of the individual writers and contributors rather than PASMA itself. Spanning a period of more than 70 years information about the early years is largely anecdotal but, with PASMA itself being founded in 1974, more recent years are better documented. However, the early stages of many product developments in the industry were shrouded in secrecy for obvious commercial purposes and one of the aims of this history is to produce a consensual view of developments. With that end in mind PASMA invites comments, amendments and additions from any interested party. Additional photographs of unusual and interesting applications are most welcome and appropriate acknowledgements will be given. PASMA will obviously make every effort to ensure that no fake news entries are made or potentially litigious comments raised.
