PASMA cards go virtual: get it on your phone

27/1/25 - Download PASMA’s TowerSure app for step-by-step guidance on inspecting towers, plus easy access to your PASMA card. If you’ve got a current PASMA qualification, or if you’ve checked a worker’s card recently, you might already be familiar with the virtual PASMA card. Launched in 2022 as a quick, secure and environmentally friendly way to demonstrate your competence, everyone with a PASMA qualification already has a virtual card – as long as they’ve downloaded TowerSure. So far, virtual cards have always been issued alongside a plastic card. However, plastic cards are now being phased out. PASMA training centres have begun making the switch from plastic cards to virtual cards, with the roll out expected to be complete by June 2025. From that point, plastic cards will only be available on request, at additional cost.

What is TowerSure?

TowerSure by PASMA is a digital tool that helps make sure towers are built correctly, by competent workers.

Next time you take a PASMA course, your instructor will show you how you can use the mobile app for inspecting towers and how to access your virtual card through it.

TowerSure is much more than just a virtual card: watch the video on the right to learn more.

How do I get my virtual card?

Search for TowerSure in the Apple Store for iOS or Google Play for Android and download it to your smartphone. TowerSure is available for all new and existing PASMA card holders in all countries where our qualifications are issued. Next, register for an account. Make sure to use exactly the same first name and last name that you gave to your instructor on the course. For example, you can’t use James on the course and then Jim on TowerSure. Don’t forget to enter your PASMA certificate number – it’s an optional field, but you won’t see your card without it. Your training centre will provide this to you when you pass the course. It may be sent directly to you, or it may go via your employer. Once you’re logged in, hit the profile icon in the top right corner of your app to see your virtual card. If you renew your card, or take an additional PASMA course, your virtual card will be updated automatically; you won’t need a new certificate number.

How can I check it’s valid?

If you’re responsible for site safety, you can double check the validity of virtual cards using the same tools as you would for printed cards. Use PASMA’s "Check a Card" (all PASMA cards) or CSCS Smart Check (PASMA Access Tower Specialist cards only). Remember to check the specific qualifications on the card to make sure they cover the categories of tower the operative will be working with. When you view a virtual card, scroll down for a full list of qualifications.

Faster, greener, more secure

Going virtual means cards can be issued quicker and more efficiently. Currently, PASMA prints and posts your card to the training centre, then the training centre posts it to you. Virtual cards will be with you instantly, at the touch of a button. Did you know we were asked to replace over 1,600 PASMA cards this year? Virtual cards are always with you, so they can’t get lost, stolen or forgotten. And for the tower industry as a whole, virtual cards are another big step on our journey to net zero. By eliminating the need for plastic, paper and postage, we reduce not just PASMA’s own carbon footprint but also the carbon footprint of our 230+ training members and 80,000+ training delegates. When it comes to demonstrating competence with towers, virtual PASMA cards are the future. If you haven’t come across them yet, you soon will!
