Delegates at PASMA Conference 2019 saw towers used in smart, innovative ways in an outdoor showcase – from the simplest podiums and mobile access towers, onto more complex structures involving cantilevers, bridges and stairs and finally, non-standard configurations that are built to specification by Professional Riggers. On this page you can watch time lapse videos of the tower assembly as it happened, download resources relating to the towers that were on display and find details of all the PASMA members who took part.
Thank you to Pete Harley from STS Access – and Chair of our Hire & Assembly Committee – who helped coordinate and oversee the construction of the Showcase.
Watch Professional Riggers from Instant Upright and Ridgeway assemble a complex aluminium scaffold tower structure (4 x 1.8m towers with 6m bridge) using the Through the Trap (3T) method. For jobs like this, you need a PASMA Hire & Assembly member.
Watch Professional Riggers from Hire Access assembly a 5.6m x 2.9m large deck tower using the Through the Trap (3T) method. They're using equipment manufactured by Euro Towers. For jobs like this, you need a PASMA Hire & Assembly member.
Watch Professional Riggers from Hire Access assemble 6m linked towers using the Through the Trap (3T) method. They're using equipment manufactured by Euro Towers. For jobs like this, you need a PASMA Hire & Assembly member.
Watch a tower on stairs be assembled. This is a standard configuration manufactured by Lyte Ladders & Towers. To build towers like this safely, you should first pass the PASMA Towers on Stairs training course.
Watch towers with bridges be assembled. This is a standard configuration BoSS tower that was built on the day by ET Hire. To build towers like this safely, you should first pass the PASMA Towers with Bridges training course.
Here’s a set of PDF resources that you can download, keep and share. These handy reference guides remind you what training courses, standards and documentation are associated with each type of tower. If you were at PASMA Conference 2019, you’ll recognise them because they were on display around the Tower Showcase. Complete your details below and click ‘Download your Tower Guides’ to access the hi-res PDFs.
Hire & Assembly is a rental, consultation, specification, design, assembly and dismantling service for complex tower scaffold structures. Because of their flexibility of configuration, strength combined with lightness, and speed of assembly and dismantling, they are an ideal choice for accessing height in a variety of challenging situations – as Pete Harley from STS Access and Stephen Kane from Ridgeway explained during their presentation at the conference. The following PASMA Hire & Assembly members showcased their capabilities at the event:
PASMA Hire & Assembly members, including the companies listed above, adhere to a strict Code of Conduct and are frequently audited to ensure adherence to industry standards. They have trained specialists who completed Towers for Professional Riggers, a 5-day intensive course with daily written exams and practical assessments. Completing this demanding course has equipped their teams with the expertise required to build large and advanced towers to specification. They also stock components that conform within the scope of EN1004 and BS1139-6, so users know they are working with safe and reliable equipment.
We recommend that you only ever use approved PASMA Hire & Assembly members for any assembly, modification or dismantling of advanced tower builds.
PASMA Manufacturer members produce and distribute mobile tower equipment that has third party certification to EN1004 from a UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) or EA (European Co-Operation on Accreditation) Approved Body. They also comply with ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) or equivalent. The following PASMA Manufacturer members had products on display in the PASMA Tower Showcase:

I really liked seeing all of the different towers on display. Being a freelance instructor I don't really get the chance to play with the less common builds.
The structures assembled in the square within the hotel complex worked really well as a showcase and the courtyard was ideal for this.
A great couple of days at the PASMA Conference. Lots of interesting topics and great updates from the world of tower. Great to meet up so many access specialists and catch up on all things access.
