Volunteer opportunities for PASMA members

16/4/20 - Are you safe and well but unable to do your job right now? Do you have spare time on your hands? We are seeking temporary volunteers who can help us fast-track as many PASMA projects as we can during this time, so that when we eventually emerge into the bright light of opportunity, our members will be off to a flying start in getting their businesses back up and prospering. We can put all sorts of skills to good use, including: copy/content writing, graphic design, project management, event organisation, knowledge of products and markets, translation, animation, proofreading, PowerPoint, video voiceover and editing. We are collating a list of projects that could be done quicker and more effectively with the help of volunteers. It is likely to include: * Creating and updating training courses * Writing EN 1004 guidance * Organising the annual conference * Updating the PASMA website * Establishing a PASMA Ambassadors scheme We're also looking for people to create and present webinars to our members. PASMA exists because we believe, and our members believe, that our industry is strongest when we work together. More and more people are switched onto the need for tower users to have proper training and safe products. That is thanks to our members' willingness to collaborate with each other and contribute towards a central cause. We need this spirit now more than ever. There's no denying the impact coronavirus is having on our industry. If you can, please play your part in helping it recover. You can register as a PASMA Volunteer by completing our sign-up form and we will contact you when there is a project that matches your skills. Q&A Can I volunteer if I have been 'furloughed' by my employer? We are aware that many of our members are in furlough under the UK government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. The GOV.uk website advises that "A furloughed employee can take part in volunteer work, if it does not provide services to or generate revenue for, or on behalf of your organisation." Our solicitors have confirmed the opinion that since we are not-for-profit and would not be paying our volunteers, they are free to undertake activities on behalf of the association for the common good, whilst on furlough from their salary paying employers. You should, however, check with your employer / HR department that this is not contrary to your Company policy. How much time will I have to commit? That's up to you. We will contact you when there is a project that matches your skills to ask if you're able to get involved and how much time you could commit. We also recognise that you may get called back to work at short notice and your availability could change part-way through a project. Who would I be working with? You'd be working on a small project team alongside PASMA staff as well as volunteers from other member organisations. How do I sign up? Please register as a PASMA Volunteer by completing our sign-up form and we will contact you when there is a project that matches your skills. Great to have you on board!
